My name is Kelly, married to Dale for 15 of the 17 years we‘ve been together. We have 4 kids, ages 21, 19, 11 and 4. Our oldest is making us grandparents later this year. I have always had an interest in the paranormal. I do believe there are ghosts/spirits out there, as for actually encountering one, not yet, and not sure I want to come face to face with one. I met up with Melinda, founder of SOAR, when we worked together. This is how I became part of this interesting group of people. I grew up in Hamilton County and listened to the stories about seeing an apparition go down our stairs towards the living room. Our stairs were old and a couple of them creaked at the top. My dad thought it was one of the kids, (I’m one of 6), going to the kitchen. He looked, heard the stairs creak, saw something white, like a gown, go around the corner and disappear. He checked and all the kids were in bed. Another instance was that of a boy sitting on my brother’s bed looking at him. He thought it was our brother, but he was in the other bed. There were stories about smelling a grandparents cologne as though they were next to you, or smelling flowers when someone died, yet not knowing who may have passed. I worked with a friend and former member of SOAR at a well known business in Anderson Township. We were there one night, building was closed, only 3 of us in the building. We were in the back, the other person was in the front of the building. We heard this loud crash. Headed towards the front to investigate and a very large picture that has hung in the same place for years, was face down on the ground. It looked as though someone threw it there. It didn’t seem to fall off the wall, the screw that it was hanging from was still in the wall, this picture is in a heavily trafficked area, so it was odd that after the building was closed, it seemed to ‘jump’ from its place. I have heard doors slam shut, nobody around, again the building was closed. My friend has heard his name being whispered (he works 3rd shift, and there is only 2 of them there, we have known each other for years so this wouldn’t have been a prank). He has heard doors being slammed shut, unusual noises and banging. After working there for so long he knew the noises the building made, what he’s heard were unusual, these noises weren’t part of the normal sounds and settling he’s heard. As for other personal experiences, I was getting ready to go to bed one night and felt a sensation like someone’s fingertips were running down my shoulders. It was a very light touch, and I didn’t dwell on it. I think if I did, I would have freaked myself out, because this happened where I currently live. I have also seen a figure in my house, and what looked like a child peeking around the corner. Both times, nobody was in the house and my kids were outside. Could it be my imagination? Sure. But as long as I don’t feel threatened, I don’t have a problem. |
